Living in the South I could not put this book down. I would wake up in the middle of the night to read just I could see what happened next. The relationship between white southern belles and their black nannies still exists today as it did 50 years ago, maybe not quite as much, but there is defnitely still a class distinction. The black nannies love their white babies and that love is returned. I am not sure that northerners or westerners could understand that relationship, one has to live here in the South to fully understand the book.

I could not put it down. This is a great story of love, loss, friendship and determination. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary this is it.
