I’ll begin by saying that I’ve always purchased Sandisk memory cards for all of my digital cameras and was very hesitant to purchase this card. My daughter told me that she had several Transcend cards and had experienced no problems with them. The reviews here still worried me some but I decided to give them a try – knowing I had a small sandisk that I could use as backup (even if it meant having to dump the card to my laptop several times.) I’m happy to report that I used these cards this weekend while shooting a wedding (I did some test shots first) and experienced no problems. There was no lag time even when shooting several shots in quick succession and my images look great. I was also impressed with the packaging – each card was in a snap-lock plastic case and sealed in a small bubble wrap envelope.

This scale works great as long as you get in on a level surface. Apparently my kitchen is somewhat sloped, so it didn’t work accurately in there. It works fine on the hard tile in my bathroom. Make sure you place your feet evenly so your weight is equally distributed. Nice looking scale too and easy to read lit display that keeps the reading for 5 seconds after you step off in case you couldn’t see it while standing on it. Good price too at least at the time I purchased it for $[...] and free shipping w/Amazon Prime trial.

I loved one of the comments on the back cover of this book (on the British print): “A laugh-out-loud, vociferously angry must-read”. I would only add “Unequivocally poignant and touching”.
I would give it 10 stars if I could. Love, hate, integration, familial relationships, tolerance, hope… this is what the book is about. A delightful, funny, moving read. Upsetting and uplifting at the same time.

Jackson, Mississippi, 1960s. When racial integration was still hardly tolerated, the respective paths of two black maids and a white lady belonging to the upper class circle cross. Their personal tales interweave and blend, with a project in mind which will ultimately rock the proverbial boat.

Each main character writes in first person: Aibileen, who is raising her umpteenth white child with love and dedication while constantly thinking of her own son, now dead.

Minny, Aibileen’s close friend, married with several children of her own, a maid with a soft heart but a sharp tongue which gets her into trouble more often than not.

Miss Skeeter, a white lady with her own dreams, whose unconventional ideas contrast mildly, and later on, sharply with the society and family she was born into. She also wants to find out why the adored black maid who raised her, Constantine, has inexplicably disappeared. No one is willing to tell her.

Each lady is surrounded by her own sets of characters in the background, characters that however are primary pawns to what will eventually happen.

The author gives voice to Aibileen’s and Minny’s language superbly. You will find a language contrast between the well-schooled Miss Skeeter and both maids, which renders a vivid and true portrait of their lives and views.

This is, in my opinion, a rare timeless piece of narrative, which will make you think as well as entertain you like very few books can. Wonderful, really wonderful. Well done to the author Ms. Kathryn Stockett!

With the recent death of its author, J.D. Salinger, I felt that it was time to finally do something I have been intending to do for years, read his classic. I was disappointed. Maybe it was because I had high expectations after all the hype. Maybe it was because I kept expecting something to happen, you know, the classic building action, climax, resolution thing. This book is nothing like this.

Written about a couple of days in the life of a teen who was newly expelled from yet another private high school, the author explores the traditionally pessimistic, skeptic, somewhat depressing view that youth has about the world created by his predecessors. Written with plenty of voice, this book is an enjoyable read, as the reader waits for something to develop. I could almost hear the voice of this book’s contemporary, Jack Kerouac, in the pages. But nothing does happen. Maybe that was the author’s point. In any case, I found that disappointing.

This cable works just as well as any high dollar cable (such as Monster). The connectors are not gold plated like Monster cables are, but I guarantee you TV or BluRay/Sat aren’t either. So, having Gold on the cable does absolutely no good preventing oxidation since the plug will oxidize, even if the cable does not.

I’ve been a broadcast engineer for 27 years, and I can unequivocally say gold plating does absolutely no good. This cable works perfectly, meets all of the fastest speed specs, and is working perfectly for me in mission critical areas at the station.

Tiny Love Super Deluxe

I’ve had my Kindle for about a month now. For the most part it is wonderful, very easy to order and download books, navigating within the device is simple, it is very portable and has a long battery life. The only problem I have is with maps or sometimes photographs they are very light and difficult to see. The page breaks can also be annoying. Particulary at the start of a page, you will sometimes have the first letter appear alone on one page and the rest of the paragraph and/or page on another. The word hyphenation is often oddly placed also. I don’t know if the widow/orphan problem could be corrected with adjusting the font size or not but the font I have it set at now is perfect so I really don’t want to change it.

About one third way through the book, I started dreading when it was over. This book transports you to the dark secrets of a circus, bright and attractive visuals, love, hate, and a character that transforms before your eyes!
The author has a wonderful way of being concise, yet still making the story come alive with great detail.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I cried when it was over BECAUSE it was over. It is my favorite book and all of my past favorites are classics. I am afraid that I will never find another book filled with the elements I like again.

If you are attracted to the past, history, the circus, a little non-cheesy romance, READ THIS!

We’ve had out Hoover for almost a year and a half now. We were amazed at how well it worked, and very pleased. With three dogs and a toddler, it got some use, but we maintained it very well, giving it a thorough cleaning after each use. It still LOOKS new.

When the brushes would stop working, per the manual, we cleaned the screen, and it worked again. The last time they stopped working, no such luck. Google was our friend here. After a quick search, we learned that it was the turbine gears that had seized up. I took it apart to verify, yep, that was the culprit. This is due to poor design on Hoover’s part, and is a well known issue. Moisture gets in the area, rusts the bearing and it seizes. Great.

The warranty is for one year. Funny how things fall apart after the warranty… but only 1 year on a $150+ cleaner? Many sites also claim that Hoover won’t do anything about it. I figured I would call and see if that was the case. After 3 calls to customer service, we were told we were out of luck. Yep, they were aware of the issue, but they were able to wash their hands clean of it since it is over a year old.

We could take it to a repair center and get it done… at our expense. We could order the part from a repair center… at our expense, or we could buy a Bissel. Even though it is a well known issue, Hoover didn’t want to do anything about it. That is unfortunate. While it is a great product when it works, prepare yourself for a maintenance cost. The part costs about $45 (including shipping) to replace and only take you about 20 minutes. Nothing like adding 33% to the overall cost for maintenance.
