No matter how many times I read this book, I am drawn in by the imagination, the creativity, and the enchantment of the tale of Artemis Fowl. The first in a set of five books, I resisted the lure of a 12-yr-old criminal-mastermind for a while, thinking the book too silly for my age. Now I run to the store the moment a new book in this series appears.

Artemis Fowl has a plan to gain back the money his father lost when he disappeared a year ago. Aided by Butler, his body guard, Artemis devises a plan to steal gold from the fairies. Young enough to still believe in magic, but old enough to construct a devious scheme, few could pull off what Artemis is about to do.

Our fairy heroine, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit, is the test case for allowing female elves to join the Lower Elemental Police recon unit, and she has been having a very bad week. After being attacked by a troll, she attempts to carry out the ritual to recharge her magic, but instead is captured by Artemis and Butler, thus beginning the hostage crisis.

Filled with interesting characters and an excellent usage of magic and technology, Artemis Fowl is a book that readers of any age should enjoy. My favorite part is how Colfer integrates magic and technology, instead of ignoring one in favor of the other, like so many urban fantasy writers do. Instead, Foaly, the centaur super-genius, uses technology to shield magic from human scanners and stay one step ahead of the Mud People.

The book is rich with detail that will keep the reader coming back. It’s been a few years since I last read the book, and I was amazed at how many things I didn’t remember and how I was still enthralled by the action. Even my roommate, who tends to feel that she is above reading “children’s” books, eagerly reads every new Artemis Fowl.

With the release of The Lost Colony, right now is the perfect time to pick up a copy of this classic and reread it. Then continue on to The Artic Incident, The Eternity Code, The Opal Decep

This is a real to life chipmunk toy. The quality is really nice and the price is reasonable. The eyes look like they are hand sewn in which is a nice touch. My dog loves this toy and I look forward to purchasing some of the other animals they offer.

The person who invented this brush has my lifetime admiration. This was actually mentioned to me from a dental hygienist and friend who share the same passion of doing the best we can for our animals. Three labs that are not shy about shedding have been a nightmare with everyone running including the dogs in the opposite direction when its time to do “the Job”

Its a good reliable scale. No complaints at all. Display is big and the weights are accurate.
Police Dog X Large

I purchased this scale because of the great reviews it received, however since the day I got it the scale defaults to 4.4 lbs, usually once that clears I can get an accurate reading, however now it either says 0 lbs and the weight is way off, or it goes back to the 4.4 lbs than once it clears it shuts off. I’m really disappointed that this seemed to not work correctly right from the start, and now doesn’t give accurate readings at all.

This is not the first time I recieve product from Amazon that was repackaged but I could not tell if it was used. I don’t mind if the item was opened/used but you advertise it as new. Besides the size of the 305 it does everything and more for aspiring triathlete. Like the fact that it handles multiple sports (bike, run, ski). GPS is on target so far. Insturctions seem simple but I refer to youtube clips to learn fuctions. Overall good value.

This Twilight series makes me want to puke when I know that the de facto vampire series has already been written by Anne Rice. Are you Twilight fans aware of The Vampire Chronicles? Twilight is akin to Fabio novels for teenie boppers. If you are at all interested in reading the best vampire series that has and more than likely will ever be written, stop wasting your time w/this fluff and check out The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.
Dog Lover s Gift

First of all, I use these SDHC cards with a Canon DSLR – pictures and 720/1080 video.

I own a Transcend 8GB SDHC class 10 and a Sandisk Extreme III 4GB class 6 prior to this purchasing this 4GB Transc. Class 6 SDHC card.

I owned the sandisk extreme way before the transcend cards and it’s worked out perfectly.
I purchased the 8GB transcend a few weeks ago because it was a class 10 for around $17 (not the best deal but I needed more memory). And it’s worked out alright and I haven’t really noticed a difference between the transcend cards and the sandisk. But after purchasing this 4GB card, and trying to use it to capture HD video, I’ve realized how much better the sandisk card is. The transcend cards are perfectly fine for use with taking pictures but my SLR keeps stopping the video because the Transcend cards can’t write fast enough.

The sandisk a 20mbps read/write speed and I think that is pretty accurate of the actual read/write speed.
The transcend 8GB, on the card, says 20mbps but it’s no where near that.. there is a forum on slickdeals talking all about how the card is actually 10 or 12. (which is where I was referred from)
Now the transcend 4GB is only a class 6 so it’s definitely much slower and I can definitely tell it’s slower in actual practice. The only reason I purchased it was because I was told the class 6 cards are fine for use with HD video recording. I think that’s probably true, but only with better brands, like Sandisk.

Pros: lots of space for cheap
Cons: not as truthful about the actual read/write speeds
A lot slower than my other SDHC brands

All that said, I’ll probably keep buying transcend cards for use with taking photos (not video) because I’ve never had a problem with them in that area. But my next few SDHC cards will be sandisk class 6 or higher because the transcend Class 10 cards aren’t even fast enough for recording HD video on my DSLR.
